Remarks:
The plasmid was used as the negative control for experiment in Sherrill et al. (2004) Fig. 4A (in vitro
radioactively labeled T7 transcripts from linearized plasmid by AgeI were directly transfected into 293T
cells, followed by lysis and measurement of luciferase activities 6h post-transfection and normalized against
measured amount of radioactively labeled mRNA transfected). mRNAs were capped and polyA-tailed. HCV IRES
segment is inserted in the intercistronic region in reversed orientation and is supposed to be not functional
as IRES although this assumption was never explicitly tested.

Similarly, T7 transcript was used as a negative control in van Eden et al. (2004) Fig. 5.
